Winter Activity Trips to Costa Blanca

Why the Costa Blanca?

The Costa Blanca is famous for Benidorm(!), its winter sun, and almost as famous for its fantastic rock climbing on immaculate weathered limestone. Forget polished limestone like we find in the UK and think limestone so grippy it wears your fingers away over the week! Whatever your starting point, our fully qualified UK instructors will ensure that you have every opportunity to progress and improve your skills. Cheap airfares, splendid rock formations, all grades of climbing and a sea view aspect as you clip that next bolt in twenty five degrees of sun should be enough to tempt you away from the UK rain! Add to this the lure of the incredible Via Ferrata and Canyons, and you have the ultimate activity holiday hot spot!

What Activities will we do?

Our course takes advantage of the Spanish winter climate, (summers here are too hot for anything more active than sunbathing!), and of the cheap flights and accommodation available at this time of year. The thrill of stepping on a plane on a grey English day and emerging 3 hours later in bright Spanish sunshine takes some beating! You will fly out to Alicanti, be met at the airport and transferred to the Finestrat area, approx. 45 minutes drive from Alicante Airport. The 3 full activity days will include:-

1 day sport climbing - We will provide you with the instruction you need to get you successfully leading sport routes, and of course dealing with the lower off without leaving gear behind.

1 day on a Via Ferrata. Some of the most spectacular Via Ferrata courses in the Alps can be found in this area. With such a choice, we can choose a course that will challenge you and your group to the max!

1 Canyon Day. This is climbing and abseiling with a difference! We will use your new climbing skills to make our way through the majestic 'Inferno Canyon'. Although the water level in the canyon varies depending on recent rain fall, expect to do some swimming!

There will also be 2 half day activities on the transfer days.

Level of Experience required

This trip is suitable for anyone, as we have such a large range of crags and routes to choose from. You may or may not be climbing already, but certainly opportunities will exist to develop those skills on this course. Basic hill walking fitness will be required for the day in the Canyon.

The views as we climb are magnificent, looking out across the Mediterranean, Benidorm, Alicante and of course the beautiful mountains.

About the Accommodation

All of our trips involve a degree of 'roughing it'. The accommodation we use is comfortable but by no means ostentatious: it is selected not only for high standards of hygiene and comfort but also on the basis that it is a friendly and relaxing place to be. Accommodation is included in the price on a twin room basis and you will be accommodated in a climbers' lodge in private rooms, close to the crags and you can choose to self cater or eat out. All bedding is provided but you will need to bring your own towels.
