Physical Training for Lake District Challenges

When you book onto one of our events, we will supply you with a fitness training programme. Although we understand that work / family commitments will get in the way of this, the more you can do before the challenge, the easier and more enjoyable you will find the actual challenge event. Mountain Walking is different to most sports in that being 'Gym-fit' although helping, is not enough in itself. When faced with a wet slippy rock slab, unless you have practiced walking on such terrain, no amount of power or stamina will help you keep your balance!

The training itself can be extremely enjoyable, as the best way of increasing your mountain fitness is to.... go walking in the mountains! Why not take the opportunity to get to know your local hills a little better, or even head over to one of the UKs National Parks for a weekend?
